Extensive works to the existing substation, within a residential area and adjacent to a school.

Demolition of existing switch house building and construction of a new switch house with semi basement cable trench within. Load bearing masonry walls under a timber roof structure with slate coverings. Internal redecoration of the existing switch building.

Construction of two sets of new transformer bases & bunding phased around the installation of replacement transformer equipment. Reconstruction of paths and roadways.

The substation remained live and operational throughout the whole project.

Construction of a new switch house with semi basement cable trench. Load bearing masonry walls under composite insulated roof cladding. Associated steelwork support for the new switchgear and internal finishings.

Construction of two sets of new transformer bases & bunding phased around the installation of replacement transformer equipment. Reconstruction of paths and roadways and compound surfacing.

Carried out in conjunction with transformer bases and bunding works, with co-ordinated transformer replacements at nearby Bilsham Substation.

Both substations remained live and operational throughout the works.

SSE Transformer Bases & Housings

An on going term contract, carried out for over 10 years. The construction of reinforced concrete bases for new transformers and electrical switch gear. Often carried out on third party sites as part of a new electrical supply, and co-ordinated with the delivery of the new transformer equipment and cabling. Works are sometimes carried out within clients existing substation compounds involving working around live cabling and equipment.

The term contract includes, on many sites, the erection of a GRP housing enclosure over the transformer, completing the new substation.
